DEPARTMENT OF COMPOSITION

The entrance examination includes a performance or some other form of the auditive presentation of a work (with oral analysis) for chamber ensemble suitable for the fourth year requirements for the subject/course Composition on Bachelor’s studies.

 

DEPARTMENT OF SINGING


Entrance examination in singing includes performing of:
- a 17th or 18th-century art song or an aria
- an aria from an oratorio or a cantata
- an art song by a 19th-century author
- an art song by a 20th-century author
- an art song by an author from this area
- an opera or a concert aria of the candidate's own choice;

The programme is performed from memory in original languages.
Candidates will be interviewed, as well.

 

DEPARTMENT OF CONDUCTING

Candidates must conduct an overture and a symphony. Also, they should perform a concert accompaniment.
The examination is carried out in the form of a public performance or a high-quality video footage of a public performance (DVD). At the footage, the conductor’s en face or en profile must be clearly seen as well as his arms. In addition, at least half an orchestra must be perceived.
The footage must be submitted to the Department of Conducting at least three days before the beginning of the entrance examination.

 

DEPARTMENT OF PIANO AND GUITAR

Group: PIANO
The programme/recital should last at least 30 minutes and it includes works of minimum two epochs.

Group: GUITAR
The programme/recital should last at least 30 minutes and it includes works of different genres and epochs.

 

DEPARTMENT OF STRING INSTRUMENTS

Violin
- a concert etude or a capriccio
- the first movement of a Mozart’s concert with a cadenza
- a grand concert (complete)

Viola
- an etude or a capriccio
- the first movement of a concert from Classical period with a cadenza
- a grand concert (complete)

Violoncello
- an etude or a capriccio
- the first movement of a concert from Classical period a cadenza
- a grand concert (complete)

Contrabass
- an etude or a capriccio
- the first movement of a concert from Classical period a cadenza
- a grand concert (complete)
The programme/recital should be performed from memory

 

DEPARTMENT OF WIND INSTRUMENTS

- a concert etude
- a cyclic work
- a virtuoso composition (from memory)

 

DEPARTMENT OF ETHNOMUSICOLOGY

The scope and content of the submitted pre-admission work correspond to graduate papers in the first cycle degree studies at this department as well as the Department of Music Theory Pedagogy.
For Major, the candidates will be interviewed. They will discuss certain works in ethnomusicology read before the entrance examination. Thematic fields are to be determined one month before the examination.

 

DEPARTMENT OF MUSIC THEORY PEDAGOGY

Group: MUSIC THEORY

The scope and content of the submitted pre-admission work correspond to graduate papers in theoretical subjects in the first cycle degree studies at the Department of Music Theory Pedagogy.
Written test in one of the following subjects: Music Forms, Counterpoints and Harmony with Analysis of Harmonic Features. Candidates chose one of the given tasks/topics. Test duration is three hours; no literature can be used.
The interview includes the oral presentation of the written test, questions about the candidate's submitted work, his/her interests and initial plans of his/her research work.

Group: MUSIC PEDAGOGY

The scope and content of the submitted pre-admission work correspond to graduate papers in Methodologies in Solfège Teaching or General Music Education in the first cycle degree studies at the Department of Music Theory Pedagogy.
Also, there will be a written test regarding a topic from Methodologies in Solfège Teaching or General Music Education. Test duration is three hours (180 min)
The interview includes the oral presentation of the written test, questions about the candidate's submitted work, his/her interests and initial plans of his/her research work.

DEPARTMENT OF CHAMBER MUSIC

The programme/recital should last at least 30 minutes and it includes works of least two epochs.
