We are living in the world of visual communication, the internet and social media boom. In such a world, graphic design has a dominant and powerful role because without a good-quality graphic design no economic activity is possible. The graphic designer position is one of the most attractive and well-paid jobs for young people.
Studies
A high-quality staff at the Academy of Arts in Banja Luka enable our students to show their individual and art potentials during the four years studies. The students of Graphic Design Department have achieved prestigious results at international festivals of posters as well as design and visual communication, which is an additional stimulus for further development of these young creative people, while they are searching for their own recognizable design identity.
What after?
Graphic design studies last for four years. It consists of work in small groups. This kind of works offers enough focus on and guidance of each student and therefore, their artistic growth and development in visual arts. After completed studies, graduated students get the title of– a graduated graphic designer, who may find the job in graphic design research, advertising agencies, and as freelancers.
Choosing this profession with full creativity and satisfaction allows our students to make our everyday life more beautiful and visually appealing with their work. Significant potential of young graphic designers provides a quality basis for the future development of creative industries that in modern society contribute to the economic development and progress of an environment.

Bachelor Studies
After Bachelor studies, i.e., the first cycle, students get the title a graduated graphic designer – 240 ECTS.

Evidence of propensity
Applicants submit a map with at least ten B1 boards in the field of visual arts.
Papers are submitted in a folder with the candidate's first and last name indicated (the entrance exam is registered at the student service and a folder with the papers is brought, which is placed in the technology cabinet-barracks behind the Academy, left entrance).

The Entrance Examination
The entrance examination lasts for 3 days.
Day 1
- Portrait study (live model)
For the realization of this task, it is necessary for the candidates to bring with them drawing accessories such as pencil and charcoal, natron, pastel or AO/B1 size board sheet measuring 100x70cm.
Day 2
- Still life
To do this task, you need to bring drawing accessories (pencils and charcoal) as well as painting accessories, and there are mandatory - paints (acrylic or tempera), palette, brushes, water container and the aforementioned paper measuring 100x70cm.
Day 3
- A graphic design task
The task is in the form of a creative "brief" in which it will be specified what the candidate should do. For this task, it is necessary to bring A3 size paper (paper of a larger weight is preferred), drawing accessories and painting accessories as in the previous days.

Ranking list
The right to be presented on the ranking list is achieved by the candidate who has passed the entrance exam which estimates the skills and talents of candidates (aptitude test) and which is determined by the Academy of Arts.
The ranking list of the candidates for enrolment in this art programme is determined according to:- The general success achieved in secondary education (success in all subjects and grades of a four-year high school)
- The results achieved in the entrance exam or the aptitude test.
The number of points achieved on the basis of general success is obtained by multiplying the average grade in all subjects of a four-year high school by the number 10 (ten)
At the entrance exam or aptitude test, the candidate can achieve from 0 (zero) to 50 (fifty) points. According to both criteria, it is possible to achieve a maximum of 100 (hundred) points. Candidates who did not achieve more than 15 points in the entrance exam are not eligible for enrollment.
02.
Master studies
After the Bachelor studies, i.e., the first cycle studies, requirements for the enrollment in the Master study (II cycle) is attained. After successfully completing the Master study and defending the final thesis, the title of Master of graphic design is obtained - 300 ECTS.

Entrance exam
All candidates submit:
- A portfolio with at least 5 works in visual art. 10 drawing should be also in the portfolio - format is not limited.
- The artistic biography and a proposal for artistic research
- „Independent” works (works created independently outside the institution where the candidate has studied)
The ranking list of accepted candidates is determined on the basis of the results achieved in the first cycle of studies (average grade, quality of works, presentation at exhibitions of national importance and international exhibitions, awards and recognitions).

Rank list and enrollment
The right to be ranked on a unique ranking list is attained by a candidate who has passed the aptitude test. The Academy determines the order of candidates who have passed the entrance exam according to the number of total points achieved.
The ranking list of candidates for the enrollment in the study program of the first year of the second cycle of studies is determined on the basis of:- General success achieved during the first cycle of studies (average grade during studies)
- The results obtained in the entrance examination or the aptitude test.
