Acting 

  • Who enrolls in this department?

    The Department of Acting is intended for future students who want to research and develop their creative potentials in the field of theater and film arts. 

    Studies

    At four-year bachelor and one-year master studies at the Department of Acting, our students acquire competency for solo artistic career, creative work in theater and film as well as on radio and television.  
    We expect our students to be thorough in learning fundamental theoretical disciplines in acting, as well as in learning classical and contemporary methods of acting. Likewise, we expect them to acquire practical knowledge and skills in acting, work on individual and group projects within festivals and cultural events organized by the Academy of Arts of the University of Banja Luka.

    What can you do after the studies?

    When you finish the studies of acting, you are offered a wide range of job positions. The positions which stand out are those that are directly related to solo artist career. The graduated audio-visual artist-actor, in addition to his/her competencies for work in theater and film, is qualified to work in cultural institutions and in the media.

Bachelor studies

After Bachelor studies, i.e., first cycle, students get the title – bachelor in audiovisual arts – 240 ECTS, an actor.

    Entrance examination

    A professor Zeljko Mitrovic  is responsible for new class of students in the academic year 2024-2025.

    The exam consists of two eliminatory parts:
    The first part (WIDE SELECTION) and the second part (NARROW SELECTION)
    Program of the first eliminator part:
    a) recitation (at the candidate's choice);
    b) a passage (at the candidate's choice);
    c) an excerpt from the role of one of the comedies of Branislav Nušić, Jovan Sterija Popović or our contemporary comedy writer.
    The candidate is obliged to memorize and prepare all three tasks.
    The committee can, after the presented program, set the candidate subsequent tasks
    (improvisation), in order to gain the most complete insight into the candidate's abilities.
    In the first eliminatory part, the commission evaluates the candidate's ability level with the grade ACCEPTED IN THE SHORT SELECTION and NOT ACCEPTED IN THE SHORT SELECTION.

    The second eliminatory part (SHORT SELECTION) consists of work with certain teachers, creative testing in the fields of culture, art and psychology, writing written assignments and a final aptitude test. In the course of work in the second eliminatory part, using the methods of tests, conversations, exercises, rehearsals, teachers and associates, in order to determine the necessary level of acting talent, examine the characteristics of speech and speech apparatus, voice, sense of rhythm, abilities, endurance and mobility, as well as personality characteristics , her peculiarities, imagination, adaptability in work.

    In the second eliminatory part, the commission examines and establishes the results of the ability test of each candidate on the following grounds:
    a) The committee evaluates the results of the candidate's voice and speech test
    b) The commission evaluates the results of checking the candidate's movement and appearance
    c) The commission evaluates the results of all tests and the candidate's ability to achieve acting expression.

    Consultations

    During the preparation for the entrance exams, consultations were organized:

    every Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. in classroom no. 7 on the ground floor.

    Ranking list and enrollment

    The right to be presented on the ranking list is achieved by the candidate who has passed the entrance exam which estimates the skills and talents of candidates (aptitude test) and which is determined by the Academy of Arts.
    The ranking list of the candidates for the enrolment in this art programme is determined according to:

    • General success achieved in secondary education (success in all subjects and grades of a four-year high school)
    • Results achieved in the entrance exam or the aptitude test.

    The number of points achieved on the basis of general success is obtained by multiplying the average grade in all subjects of a four-year high school by the number 10 (ten)
    At the entrance exam or aptitude test, the candidate can achieve from 0 (zero) to 50 (fifty) points. According to both criteria, it is possible to achieve a maximum of 100 (hundred) points. Candidates who did not achieve more than 15 points in the entrance exam are not eligible for enrollment.

     

 

02.

Master studies

After successfully completing the Master studies and defending the final thesis, the title of Master in acting  – is obtained - 300 ECTS.

    Entrance exam

    Candidates who have achieved 240 ECTS must submit motivational letter, and be interviewed by the commission consisting of professors in acting and theater direction. If the candidates have achieved 240 ECTS but not in acting, apart from the interview and the motivational letter, they must present themselves with the individual practical task (duration 20 minutes).

    Rank list and enrollment

    The right to be ranked on a unique ranking list is attained by a candidate who has passed the aptitude test. The Academy determines the order of candidates who have passed the entrance exam according to the number of total points achieved.
    The ranking list of candidates for the enrollment in the study program of the first year of the second cycle of studies is determined on the basis of:

    • General success achieved during the first cycle of studies (average grade during studies)
    • The results obtained in the entrance examination or the aptitude test.

    The number of points achieved on the basis of success in the first cycle of studies is obtained by multiplying the average grade by the number 5 (five).
    At the entrance exam or aptitude test, the candidate can achieve from 0 (zero) to 50 (fifty) points. According to both criteria, it is possible to achieve a maximum of 100 (hundred) points. Candidates who did not achieve more than 15 points in the entrance exam are not eligible for enrollment.
